When You Get Caught Warm Up

1. I think if a photographer makes the mistake once and this is the first time for it to happen then they should get a second chance, but if it is found that they have altered photos on many instances then I don't think they should get a second chance.
2. I don't think he should be tainted for the rest of his life, but his photos for a couple years should be monitored until he proves that he won't alter photos again.
3. News organizations should have these rules because they are trusted to put out the entire truth for people to see, when you alter a photo you are taking out the truth.
4. I think they may have looked at other photos taken at the same time and place and realized that there were other people and things that could have been in the photo. They most likely reexamined the photo and found that some of the lines don't match up.

Magazine Cover Peer Review

FallCity Magazine by Shayla Perez
I liked how there was a lot of colors and they all stood out, but they didn't clash with each other. I also liked how you could tell the girl was the main focus sine the foreground and background were out of focus. Something I thought could be improved was the color of the words. Some of them were hard to read since it bended with the color of the actual picture. I picked it because I liked how the photo was executed and the subject really stood out. There was a bar code and I think that it did help the magazine feel more real. It was a portrait.

Nature by Ale Woodford
I liked how the subject was different from a lot of the other subjects since her was older. Also the setting seems so peaceful and you could tell the subject enjoyed being there. Something that could be improved was the color of the words because some of them blended into the picture. I picked it because it stood out to me from the rest of the magazines because the subject was different from the other magazines. There was a barcode and i think it does make the cover seem more real. It was a portrait.

Peer Review

http://mercedesphotojournalismblog.blogspot.com/
My favorite photo is connected. The braid, which is obviously the connection, is in focus while the rest of the hair is out of focus. This makes the photo really interesting to look at and the braid stands out since it is lighter than everything else.

My least favorite photo is pose because the person is slightly out of focus because it focused on the tree which is not what i think she was trying to do. Also you can't see what she is taking a picture of so if it was in rule of thirds the the picture would have been more interesting to look at.

Overall most of the photos are really interesting, like connected and the end, and footprints was different since it was car tracks instead of actual people feet. Also I can tell that she took time to think about the prompts and figure out what the best way to capture such broad topics.

I think some of the photos were a little fuzzy, but that could just be a camera thing. I think she was very successful with the shoot in general.

I think the prompt she did the best portraying was connected because it was so obvious what it was. It was also different from any other connected photos that was on other blogs. the focus was in the perfect spot and it was just an all around great photo.

I think the least successful prompt portrayed was pause because though it was interesting and different from other photos for that prompt, i didn't understand why it was picked for pause.

Five Websites

1. http://www.lightstalking.com/lens-flare
On this website I looked at light flares. Light flares are when there is light scattered in the lens because of unplanned reflection or lens impurities. I learned how to create lens flares from looking at attached posts and how interesting it makes the photo to look at.
I picked this photo because I like how the one flower in the center is the most in focus. The light flares add something interesting to look in what would just be another picture of flowers. A rule that I can see in the photo are simplicity and background. The photo was taken by Gareth Brooks.

2. http://www.lightstalking.com/31-amazing-and-strong-photographs-of-recent-storms
On this website i looked at pictures storms either about to happen or already going on. There was really interesting shots from all different landscapes and places. I learned how amazing storms can look.
I picked this photo because is looks like the storm is about to hit and it is really beautiful how the ocean looks really harsh and the sky is colorful over the land with either the sunset or rise but closer to where the photo was taken. This photo has depth because you can  see the land and how the sky is different in the background of the photo. This photo was found on http://www.flickr.com/people/mateeee/.

3. http://fstoppers.com/how-to-spin-a-camera-around-a-building
On this website I learned how to do a 360 shot around a building. The video went by fast and I found it hard to keep up with it but the end result was really cool. I could do this in class for a shoot we do that has to with buildings. I learned how you can use photoshop to plan out a shoot you want to do with this  technique, not just editing photos.

4. http://digital-photography-school.com/27-black-and-white-landscape-images
On this website I looked at beautiful black and white landscapes. The were all so dramatic and and i think the black and white helped since the bright colors could distract from the image. I learned how different and dramatic black and white makes a photo look and it made me want to take more photos in black and white.
This is my favorite photo because i like how the front is so simple with cows grazing, but as you look back  you can see the snow capped mountains and the big, white clouds make the photo so much more than just a simple cow photo. I see rule of thirds in this photo because the cow closest to the front of the photo is in a corner. This photo was taken by Oscar Ordenes.

5. http://blog.tomolesnevich.com/personal-projects/#nyc-by-bike
On this website a man posted pictures he took while riding his bike. The bike is always in focus but the landscape is blurred because of the movement and it makes it really interesting. I didn't learn how to so this but i would like to find out how he took the photos since he was riding a bike at the time.
This is my favorite photo because the was a lot of pictures of him in the city, but this one was different because is showed the more rural part of New York that has trees and that many people don't think about. There is rule of thirds in this photo because the bike is on the side. The picture was taken by Tom Olesnevich.

2013 Reflection

Favorite Photos of 2013
This photo is one of my favorites because it shows the joy that young animals and humans have about little things before they learn about the hardships in life.
This photo is one of my favorites because how the frost has covered everything in white and is completely undisturbed is beautiful. Even though there is a fire going on near it the snow is cold enough not to melt.
This photo is one of my favorites because it is interesting with the earth in the background and the reflection of the station the astronaut is at in the thing covering his head.

Favorite Song of 2013
Demons by Imagine Dragons was my favorite song from 2013. I really like the message it has and is very catchy. It is a song that gets stuck in your head really easily so you end up singing it the rest of the day after you hear it. It is also by my favorite band.

Favorite Movie of 2013
The second Hobbit movie was one of my favorite movies this year. I love the Lord of the Rings movies and books so i was really excited when i found out that they were making the hobbit into a movie. Even though it was long the entire movie was interesting and you could enjoy it even if you hadn't seen  any of the other movies. The ending was a cliff hanger but that just makes me want the last movie in the trilogy to come out sooner that it will.

Most Important News Story of 2013
The Boston Marathon Bombing was a really important news story. It involved all of the United States because there was people from all over the country. So many people got injured and died and it was just a really bad tragedy.

Most Important Person of 2013
Jennifer Lawrence is an important person from 2013 because she is a great actor and she got a lot of rewards for it. She is also a great inspiration and role model for people.

Biggest Sports Story of 2013
The biggest sports story was when Brazil won FIFA in 2013. I really like watching soccer so i find the FIFA World Cups interesting and entertaining to watch.

What I Did Over Winter Break
Over winter break I went to El Paso to visit friends and Family. I got sick while there so i spent most of my break in bed watching netflix. I don't really have any resolutions but i do want to stay active and healthy and continue to get good grades in school. In 2014 I'm looking forward to going to London with marching band.
